Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded on the campus of Howard University on January 15, 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-trained women.

Since then, the Sorority has flourished into a globally-impactful organization of over 265,000 college-trained members, bound by the bonds of sisterhood and empowered by a commitment to servant-leadership that is both domestic and international in its scope.

Pi Kappa Omega was chartered on June 28, 1986 in New York City by forty-two members of the NY Pearls Interest Group. As a graduate chapter of the North Atlantic Region, of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Pi Kappa Omega has continued to positively serve local and regional communities through education, scholarship, leadership, health and environmental awareness.

We proudly engage Sorority members in sisterly related activities that foster and strengthen a bond that has united members for over a hundred years, and work together to engage and serve communities on a variety of philanthropic initiatives.
